A bot is a program or software that performs many automated tasks on the internet.Sometimes these programs are also called as Robot. Actually, these programs perform simple and complex repetitive human tasks at a very high speed.

In simple word these programs perform  human activity at very high speed that a human being can not be performed alone.

Robots are used by various search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing for crawling and indexing billions of web pages and also used by commercial and e-commerce websites like eBay.
Now the question arises that always are these robots considered as a good program?
The answer to this question is NO.These programs are not always considered as a good program.Many times they are used to perform malicious work.So below are the bad uses of these programs:-

  • Hacking
  • Spam Traffic(Referrer Spam)
  • Scraper that steal content of a website
  • DOS(Daniel of Services) doing by Botnet programs
